hi!

I’m Lucas, a San Francisco-based designer with nearly 20 years of experience. Originally trained in industrial design, I’ve had the opportunity to stretch my expertise across a broad spectrum of design disciplines, including ID, experiential, environmental, UX, brand, graphic, creative strategy, and more. I currently run and own lu., a versatile design shop where I offer my services to augment internal teams seeking my expertise.

Prior to this endeavor, I was part of Visa Garage as a Design Director, helping incubate and bring new initiatives to life. Before Visa, I was an instrumental part of the creative team at Dolby for over eight years. My role ebbed and flowed, covering many areas of design. A couple of highlights include bringing Dolby’s first consumer product (Dolby Dimension) to life while leading the industrial design and contributing to almost all creative aspects of the product. After Dimension, I spent 18 months in NY leading the experiential and environmental design for Dolby Soho, a 30,000 sqft experiential center showcasing the Dolby difference. There, we worked with some of Dolby’s biggest partners and creators (Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros., Alicia Keys, and more) to bring their IP to life in Dolby. During the pandemic, I led UX and design for Dolby’s first digital experiential endpoint (Dolby XP), providing Dolby demos and experiences to our partners and top-tier talent remotely through the Apple ecosystem.

Frog Design brought me to SF, where I specialized in industrial design. Over five years, I worked on a variety of products, from shipping telecommunication devices to future-thinking concepts to ticket scanners for Levi’s Stadium. Originally from north of Chicago, I moved west to attend Art Center College of Design.

In my free time, I enjoy making things, whether that’s crafting home goods with hardwoods and leather, throwing clay on a wheel, or grilling a solid steak. I’m a huge fan of movies, chilling by a body of water (pool, ocean, lake - not picky), and have been told I “base my day on the meals I plan on eating.”
